UTEP museums and galleries showcase some of the most acclaimed exhibits on the border—and beyond.
Creativity has a home, and it is within the walls of these facilities, which support and exhibit the art of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The Centennial Museum exhibits the natural and cultural history of the Chihuahuan Desert region, featuring the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens and its nearly 800 plant species. Along with UTEP’s Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts, the museum recently hosted The Disappeared, or Los Desaparecidos, a stunning display that depicted the tragic fate of resistance fighters and political activists during the latter part of the 20th century in Latin America. The Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts houses three galleries that feature highly acclaimed national and international contemporary artists. The Union Exhibition Gallery showcases contemporary work from regional artists. Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Information: 915-747-5481.
The University Library features unique collections of literature, art and historic documents. Hours: 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 1 a.m. Sunday. Dance, Music and Theater
The energy and vibrancy of young actors, musicians, dancers and artists is key to the El Paso cultural scene, and UTEP is at the center of it.
