The University of Texas at El Paso offers some of the best venues for entertainment, conferences and events in the region, enhancing the university experience for the entire community.

The numerous facilities have attracted superstars such as U2, Elton John, the Rolling Stones and Britney Spears, as well as some of the preeminent experts in the fields of health, science and border security.

Key Venues

The Don Haskins Center, home of the UTEP basketball team, is named after the legendary coach who guided the team to the NCAA Basketball Championship in 1966.

The arena features 11,767 permanent seats and 7,000 to 9,000 end-stage seats. Artists who have performed at the center include Santana, Metallica, Aerosmith, Shakira, Ozzy Osbourne, Carrie Underwood, Luis Miguel, Vincente Fernandez, KISS and AC/DC.

The center also is used for UTEP commencements, El Paso Community College graduations and area high school ceremonies.

The Sun Bowl Stadium is home to the UTEP football team. It is also the scene of the nationally televised collegiate gridiron classic of the same name. The stadium boasts a capacity of 52,000, and the acts who have appeared there include U2, Pink Floyd, Ricky Martin and the Rolling Stones, as well as former world boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya.

Magoffin Auditorium is the largest lecture hallon campus, doubling as a concert hall for smaller events such as plays, musicals, small concerts and comedy performances. It features superior acoustics and onelevel seating, with excellent views. The auditorium includes 1,156 permanent seats. Artists who have performed in the auditorium include George Lopez, Melissa Etheridge, George Winston, John Tesh and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. It has also been the site of musicals such as Phantom of the Opera.
